Long airline flights are sometimes inevitable, but there are things you can do to help make your trip comfortable and time pass quickly. Here’s how:
- Wear Comfortable Clothes And Layer - Wear whatever makes you comfortable, whether it be sweatpants or jeans. Just remember, you don’t want to be tugging or itching throughout the flight. And layer your clothes, because airplane temperatures can be finicky.
- Wear Comfortable Shoes - Like clothes, you also want to wear comfortable shoes, like sneakers or flip flips. Who wants to wear heels for a five hour-flight?
- Change Your Seat - When you reserve your ticket, check if you can choose your seat. And choose what’s best for you, whether it’s an exit row to stretch your legs, a window seat to rest your head or an aisle seat to make quick restroom runs. If you don’t like the seat you chose on the plane, ask a flight attendant if there are any empty seats you can switch to. Usually, they’re pretty accommodating. And if you’re flying Southwest, make sure to check in as close to 24 hours before as possible in order to get the best choice of seats.
- Stay Hydrated - Planes deplete you of H20, so make sure you drink plenty of fluids - water and juice are the best. Caffeinated drinks, like coffee and soda, may make you feel more dehydrated and prone to more restroom runs!
- Treat Your Skin - Your skin will get pretty dry, as well, so bring moisturizer or lotion to keep your skin hydrated. Some people like to spritz water on their faces. And don’t forget Chapstick for your lips and saline spray for your nose.
- Freshen Up - Sometimes, you feel pretty gross after sitting on a plane for a while. Bring a toothbrush (use bottled water to rinse), deodorant and facial wipes in your carry-on for freshening up in a pinch. Be kind to you fellow passengers, however, and do not wear perfume or cologne.
- Bring Entertainment - Books, iPod, non-wireless computer, magazines, crossword puzzles, Gameboys - bring whatever floats your boat. Plane TVs and Skymall magazine get boring after a while, so it’s up to you to amuse yourself.
- Bring Your Own Food And Drinks - If you don’t like peanuts or pretzels, bring your own snacks and drinks. Just make sure you purchase the drinks after you go through security, or they’ll get tossed.
- Use A Pillow And Blanket - Many planes have pillows and blankets for your use, but sometimes tend to run out. If they are important to you, bring your own. If you’re a sleeper, you may also want to bring an eye mask and ear plugs.
- Move Around - If you’re on a long flight, make sure to walk around, stretch and wiggle. You want good circulation, or you may be at risk for a blood clot.

You know your feet swell up during long flights so most comfortable of all is no shoes.
More considerate maybe is take thos disposible slippers from your last business class flight (OK … or buy them at the market).

As a result, I actually like taking care hearing and whilst I do agree with the above-named poster and I really hope I do not get shot down for stating this, but I guess it is important to take all things in moderation.
