Getting sick is no fun, but the more you pay attention to healing, the quicker you’ll be up and running. Here are tips to boost your healing time:
- Get Plenty Of Rest - Rest is quite possibly the best medicine when you’re sick. Make sure you get enough sleep and relaxation, otherwise you won’t heal quickly.
- Limit Contact With Others - If you’re sick, you don’t want to pass along your germs to others or even become more ill from germs passed on to you.
- Wash Your Hands - Washing your hands is one of the best germ and bacteria fighters out there. The Center For Disease Control And Prevention offers the most effective tips for washing your hands.
- Take The Right Medications And Treatments - Taking NyQuil is not going to help you if you have a stomach virus. Make sure you are taking the right medications or treatments for your condition, especially if you have been prescribed anything by a doctor. Follow instructions carefully.
- Get Some Fresh Air - Whether opening a window or taking a five-minute walk outside, make sure your lungs get some fresh air. Staying in stagnant air is not going to help your recovery.
- Stay Comfortable - Wear loose clothing and make sure your bedding is comfy.
- Drink Plenty Of Fluids - Make sure you are drinking enough water or electrolytes, like Gatorade, to keep yourself hydrated and full of essential minerals.
- Eat - If you don’t eat, your body will be lacking the proper nutrients to heal. If you can’t eat solid foods, try Carnation Instant Breakfast or soup. Even Jell-O is better than nothing. Ask your doctor about what diet will be most beneficial to your healing.
- Disinfect - Make sure you disinfect surfaces you come into contact with, including countertops, the bathroom, garbage pails, doorknobs and the phone. Lysol Sanitizing Wipes are especially handy for disinfecting these surfaces.
- Don’t Push Yourself - Rest, rest and rest some more. Add some relaxation to that. Now is not the time to mow the lawn, spring clean the house or cook a banquet dinner. Only do what you can.
