Top Ten Tips - A Day With No Valentine

sufferingHey, you. Are you going to be single and alone for Valentine’s Day? Yes? Well, you don’t have to mope around. Whether you usually like the day or think it’s some Hallmark conspiracy, a single night doesn’t have to go to waste. Here’s how to make a no-date Valentine’s Day great:

  • Go Out With Other Single Friends - You love your friends, so why not go out with them? Let down your hair and just have fun.
  • Volunteer - Show someone who might not feel loved that you care. Helping the homeless, working at a soup kitchen and visiting a nursing home are some of the many things you can do.
  • Send A Card To Someone You Love - Valentine’s Day is not just about significant others, but significant people. Send a card to someone you love and makes you feel loved.
  • Reconnect With Someone You Miss - Valentine’s Day is also a good time to reconnect with a friend or family member you haven’t seen in a long time. Pick up the phone or stop by to say hello.
  • Buy Something With The Money You Would Have Spent - Dinner for two, $60. Bottle of wine, $30. Box of chocolates, $15. A dozen roses, $25. That’s a $130 shopping spree right there - so hit your favorite stores and go wild!
  • Watch Cheesy Love Movies And Sing Cheesy Love Songs - Time to break out the Meg Ryan, Journey and Air Supply. ‘Nuff said.
  • Memorize At Least Three Diane Warren Songs - Oh, Diane, the force behind at least 75 percent of popular love songs. Today is a great day to memorize three Diane Warren songs that you don’t already know. Here’s the full list - now, break out the iTunes!
  • Write Anti-Valentines - Roses are red, violets are blue, you forgot to buy me chocolate, so I say, “$#@! you!” Ok, Tip Diva doesn’t know how constructive this activity is, but it should provide you with some chuckles and improve your poetry skills. You never know, Hallmark might need you some day.
  • Read Craigslist’s Personals Section - From Missed Connections to Rants And Raves, have a good laugh and determine the good, the bad and the desperate.
  • Buy Discounted Chocolate The Next Day - The best part about Valentine’s Day is the 50 percent-off chocolate the next day. Stock up - chocolate stays well in the freezer!
