Forget coupon clipping - the Web is a wealth of savings for you, offering freebies, samples, cash back, money off and more. Here are Tip Diva’s favorite sites for the penny pincher:
- Ebates - If you shop online, why not get cash back for your purchases? Ebates give you 1 to 25 percent back on your purchases at your favorite online store. It’s totally safe, as you’re purchasing from the store’s site, and you get a check or PayPal payment with your cash back every quarter. You can also apply coupons to save even more!
- eBay - Over five years of eBaying has taught me that you can pretty much buy or sell anything here. And for the most part, you can find things affordably. Just make sure to do your research first, and don’t get ripped off on shipping!
- Half.com - Are you looking for books, movies, music or video games? Try Half.com. Seller usually have items listed much cheaper than retail, and it is also a good site to browse for hard-to-find items. Shipping costs won’t break your bank, either. Other sites you can try for used media include Barnes & Noble and Amazon. But if you’re looking to pay next to nothing, try…
- Paperback Swap, Swap A CD & Swap A DVD - These sites let you trade your books and DVDs with other members for site credit. If you request something, you spend a credit. If someone requests from you, you get a credit for sending them a book or DVD. The CD works the same way, except it’s a meager $0.49 cents per transaction plus the credit.
- Craigslist - This is another good site to find things you’re looking for, like furniture. There’s even a section for people giving away things for free. But be careful with whom you deal with, as the site is largely unmoderated, unlike eBay.
- Freecycle - Freecycle is a site that connects you to people in your community who give and get items that people no longer need. It’s a non-profit aimed at keeping perfectly good items out of landfills. Remember, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
- Coupon Sites - If you’re going to shop online, look at sites like eDealinfo or RetailMeNot for thousands of coupon codes you can use towards free or discounted offers. But before you buy, go to…
- Price Comparison Sites - Sites like Froogle and My Simon allow you to compare prices of the same item across many different online retailers.
- Freebie Sites - There are many freebie sites on the web with links on how to get free samples, free software and more. The Free Site is one of the best directories of freebies on the Web, where you can request items ranging from dog food to lipstick. NOTE: If you’re going to sign up for freebie offers, create a new e-mail address using a free service like Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail. This way, you won’t get potential spam in your regular e-mail.
- Online Banking - Banks like Emigrant Bank and ING offer free online savings accounts with higher APYs than many regular banks. In fact, you can attach these accounts to your regular checking account.

I like to use MySavings.com to get free samples, they are better than TheFreesite.com which is good too but a little outdated. Here is a direct link to the samples section.
